Ten tips for freelance writing success

For many of us getting a few articles published on the web leaves us dreaming of a full time career as a freelance writer. All those Internet advertisements add to the appeal with promises of working as much or as little as you want making thousands of dollars a week and doing it all from the comfort of your home.

The reality is that while you can make a decent living as a freelance writer, most do not make thousands of dollars a week and while it is true that you can work as little as you want, what those advertisements don't tell you is that unless you put in some pretty long work weeks especially at the beginning of your career you are not making to make enough to pay the bills.

Still, being a professional freelance writer is not a bad way to make a living if you love to write. But, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, talent, and discipline. If you are considering making a full time career out of freelance writing here are some tips that may just help to make that dream a reality.

1. Establish a work Environment

Writing professionally means establishing your self as a professional in your own mind. The best way to do that is to create a productive work environment. Set aside a quiet area in your home where you have your computer, notepads, pens, a dictionary and anything else you may need to get the job, which is writing, done.

As a freelancer you are going to have to produce large quantities of quality work quickly in order to make money. You simply cannot afford to waste valuable writing time searching for items you need in order to accomplish your goal. Having a working environment that is yours and yours alone insures that everything will be at your fingertips when you need it.

2. Set A Work Schedule

While one of the benefits of working from home is the ability to have a flexible work schedule, it is vital for you to establish some kind of working hours especially when you are starting out. Having set working hours makes it easier not only for you to get into the habit of writing for long periods of time daily but it also sends the message to family and friends that your writing is a serious job and by you treating it seriously they will be encouraged to take it seriously as well.

3.Always Make Sure You Have Work

Freelancing means there will be times when there is little work available that pays the rate you would like, this should not keep you from earning income however, keep a list of paid to write sites where you
