I was intrigued to read the phrase, Zombie Apocalypse. It was only as I read deeper that I realised my husband and I had also envisaged a similar situation, only we called it Societal Collapse.

We have built up some resources, and were prepared to escape into the hills of our local county (Northumberland in England). We still are, but in our country, trying to escape is rather difficult as we would be hiding from any remnant of authority, even bullying mobs, making life a lot harder to hide away and still enjoy the fruits and diversity of nature.

As it happens, my husband has just lost his job, and as we were already struggling to cope, financially, and had tightened our belts a great deal, we are going to have to use the resources we have saved to tide us through a difficult period of change. So we are now having to survive a form of zombie apocalypse anyway.

Whether the situation occurs on a grander scale or not, having considered it and prepared for it will help us through the future.

No-one knows exactly what the future might bring, but it doesn't do any harm to prepare, just in case.
