Facebook is a great way to filter traffic to your online articles because there are built-in tools that make marketing relatively easy. Of course, this is best accomplished if you either create a separation between your personal profile and your professional one, or you commit to maintaining a clean profile overall.
The following are some ideas for using your Facebook account to help generate increased page view earnings from your Helium articles.
Create a Writer’s Portfolio Page
Facebook allows users to create an ad page for free. This is a fantastic tool because it is easy to use and it gives your entire friend membership potential access to your page which minimizes the effort involved in actively marketing your content. To create a page go to the bottom left corner of your Facebook profile page and click on the ‘Ads and Pages’ icon. This takes you to a page that gives you the option to create a new page. You will be asked to select the type of page you want to create, which even gives you a dropdown to choose your industry. After you have chosen a name and a sector for your new page all that is left is to update your background information and upload a picture that corresponds to your content. Then you can start linking your articles and making posts just like your ordinary profile.
Gather Fans
Creating the page is only the first step. You also have to gather a fan base. This can be as easy as selecting the market your page option and sending an invitation out to your Facebook friends to become a fan of your page. These fans get an update every time you post fresh content to your page, which means that you have an instant audience for your article links.
Create an RSS Feed of Your Articles
You also have the option of creating an RSS feed of your articles that will be posted directly to your main profile page. This way every time you write a new article it is automatically posted to your profile. Choosing this option takes the effort out of marketing individual articles but it is also less targeted because you will not be able to pick and choose which article gets posted and which doesn’t. If you write on a wide range of topics this can be less effective because your posts might start to seem sporadic and it might be harder to get your friends interested.
Post Links in Your Status Update
Another way to use Facebook to market your Helium articles is to include links in your status updates. This lets everyone on your friend list know about your article and the potential for increased earnings can be astronomical depending on the number of people you have previously befriended.
Facebook is a powerful tool for marketing but it needs to be carefully thought out and integrated into your overall plan for it to be effective.
