The best movie of all time

There have been so many wonderful movies released, it is hard to choose just one.  But, of course, there is a favorite of mine and that movie would be "Gone With The Wind".

After watching this movie so many times, I am still mesmerized by the characters, the costumes, the scenery and seem to catch something missed before, it is so full of interesting facts.

Margaret Mitchell wrote this novel and for it received the Pulitzer in 1937.  It has sold 30,000,000 copies.

After considering many stars for the heroine, Scarlett O'Hara, Vivien Leigh, a British star was selected and she played the part to a T.  She was vivacious, beautiful and gorgeous in the unbelievable gowns.  As far as I am concerned, Vivien Leigh could have been the only person to play this part.

Scarlett was conniving and manipulative and knew how to get anything or anybody she wanted - except Ashley Wilkes and he stayed true to his beloved Melanie, who he married.  Ashley was portrayed by Leslie Howard.

Scarlett was strong and adhered to the advice given to her by her father at the beginning to love the land - it is the only thing worth working, fighting and dying for because it is the only thing that lasts.  Of course, he was referring to their beloved plantation, Tara.

Olivia de Havilland was the perfect Melanie.  She loved everyone and was loved by everyone.  She became Scarlett's best friend, even though Ashley chose her above Scarlett to marry.

Hattie McDaniel, who won an Academy Award for best supporting actress as Mammy, raised Scarlett from birth and was with her most of the time.

Scarlett meets Rhett Butler for the first time at Twelve Oaks, Ashley Wilkes'  plantation and he likes her spirit.  Everyone is there for a bar-b-que and word comes that the war between the states has started.  Scarlett, indignant that she has been rebuked by Ashley, hurriedly gets Charles Hamilton to marry her.

Of course, the war takes most of the men away and Charles Hamilton dies from pneumonia while away.  This leaves a faux grieving Scarlette who then, marries Frank Kennedy so she can pay the taxes on Tara.  She takes over Frank's business and the profits soar.

All along, Rhett swears to Scarlett that he loves her and is going to marry her and after Frank Kennedy is killed helping do a raid on shanty town to avenge an attack on Scarlett, eventually she does marry Rhett.

Scarlett goes to Atlanta to visit Aunt Pitttypat, taking Prissie, a
