Procrastinating is fun. If you didn't know that already, learn it now. The only problem with it is that it can make your experience at school a very very bad one. It's true. You can have much more fun chatting with your friends on Facebook or MySpace rather than doing homework. You can have even more fun sneaking out of the house to meet your friends. The truth remains that you can have more fun doing anything but homework.
But homework needs to get done. And by homework, I mean homework, studying for a test, or completing that project that was due last semester. If you don't do your homework, your going to be one of those unlucky students that needs to go through their senior year again. That's a proven fact.
So how do you stop procrastinating? Here are some of the best ways:
1. Don't touch the computer unless you really have to do some work on it- This is one of the most important things you should do. The computer can be the antagonist to your education. However, if you really need to some work on it, save that work for last. It's amazing how intimidating it can be when you are sitting in front of your computer working on an essay to go to the internet and goof off. So do all the work you have to do on the computer last.
2. Remember why you have to do homework in the first place- Doing homework isn't some kind of punishment, it's just supposed to help us learn. But homework is extremely boring, and can sometimes be time consuming.
However, it wasn't meant to be that way. Homework was meant to help you understand a concept as thorough as possible. And don't forget that doing good on homework is a step toward getting into a good college. And getting into college usually means your future is going to be bright. Now who doesn't want that?
3. Just do your homework- This is probably the simplest way to overcome procrastination. Just hurry up and do your homework. If you don't understand most of it, make educated guesses. It's better than getting a big fat zero on a major project. Once you're done, you're free to do anything you want. If you finish at late night, you can either go to sleep, or do all the things you wanted to...at night.
So you see, all you have to do is temporarily get rid of all of the distractions in your way to finishing your homework, and then actually do your homework. It's as simple as that.
