Life is a struggle between what is wrong and what is right
It is expending energies against the ordinary and the might
We come into the world helpless and alone
We can leave it with great power and a throne
Or we can strive to make each day our very own
Life is unforgiving of our sins or tolerant of every fault
It is showing our mettle to the world or hiding in our private vault
We owe no explanation for each deed
We reap the planting of each seed
Or live in chains amid the hopes of being freed
Life is breathing air and feeling love
It is violent raging or cooing soft as dove
We make our life what it is going to be
We watch life's acorn grow majestically
Or we can sit back ruing needlessly
