One thing that women like to see in men is self confidence. No one can like a person that doesn't believe they are likable. So be yourself and learn to like who you are regardless of how you look or what you do. Don't start off thinking that anyone won't like you or that any women is 'out of your league'. You never know what you may have in common with the most attractive woman in the room, but if you sit in the corner thinking that she is too good for you then you will never find out.
That aside, take care of yourself, and put some effort into the way that you look. I don't mean go out and get major plastic surgery, but a shower wouldn't hurt. Think about it, if you went out and saw a woman who obviously put no effort into the way she looked (sloppy clothes, hair undone, no make-up, looked and smelled like she needed a shower) she probably wouldn't be your first choice. Yet some men actually don't feel the need to keep themselves up. It's amazing what a shower, clean pressed clothes and a teeth brushing can do.
In short, like yourself, take care of yourself, smile and talk to people, women you don't meet can't like you!
