Poetry: The last good-bye

by Obiora Embry

No Time Left

There was not ONE last time for a kiss from my
lips to yours...

There was not ONE last time for me to share an
enjoyable experience with you,
There was not ONE last time for me to share an
enjoyable experience with you and your family...

There was not ONE last time to look into your
eyes without there being disgust, anger, or hurt...

There was not ONE last time for us to share in the
warmth of each others' love...

There was not ONE last time for us to hold each
other lovingly before parting knowing that we would
be together again later...

There was not ONE last time for me to be there
when you returned from work...

There was not ONE last time for me to assist you
in the housework and care of your children...

There is not ONE last time for anything, nothing is
left now but 2 broken hearts that must find time to
mend and 2 children who now hate me for causing
so much pain to their mother.
