Rosetta Stone Version 3: French is easy to install.

For Windows:

First, insert the application CD-ROM, which will prompt you to begin installing the product.

Next, select the interface language. This is the language all instructions and help will be in.

You will now be prompted to select where you would like the application files to be installed. If you do not know, it will select a destination folder for you. Click “Next” if you are happy to have it installed there. Click “Change” if you would like to install it elsewhere.

Keep following the prompts to continue installing the program. When the product has been installed, there will be a checked box to launch Rosetta Stone. If you would like to launch the program, keep the box checked and click “Finish.”

For Mac:

First you insert the Application CD-ROM, which may require you to enter your password. Follow prompts to begin installing the product.

Next, select the interface language. This is the language all instructions and help will be in.

You will be prompted to select where you want the files to be installed. A destination folder will be displayed. If you want it to go there, click “Continue.” If you want the file to be put elsewhere, click “Select Folder.”

You will be taken to the installation screen. Click “Install.” When the product is finished installing, Rosetta Stone will start automatically.

For both Windows and Mac:

After you have installed the Application CD-ROM, you will need to install the language files for each language level that you have. When you launch Rosetta Stone, you will be prompted to “Add a Language Level,” which you should click.

After you have clicked on it, insert the Language CD-ROM, then click “continue.”

Next, select the language you want to install, then click “Install selected language.” Be patient. The installation may take a long time.

You will be prompted to choose where you would like the language files to be installed. Make sure the place you select to install them has enough space for all the language files you wish to install. (Each language file may require up to 600 MB.) The language files can be stored in a different place from the application file, but you cannot move the language files after they have been installed. If you wish to choose a different place to store the language files, click “Choose a different location.” If you do not, click “Accept.”

When the language files have finished being installed, click “Continue,” if you wish to launch Rosetta Stone. If you want to add another Language Level, click “Add another Language Level.” You can add Language Levels later in “Preferences.”

You have to activate your Rosetta Stone to access all the lessons. There is an sheet of paper in your Rosetta Stone package with the Activation ID on it. Enter the Activation ID when prompted and click “Activate.” If you do not have internet access, you must activate the program by phone. Call the Customer Service phone number printed on the back of your “Quick Start” guide to activate your program by phone. You can activate later, if you do not feel like activating it at the moment.

You can also register, if you want full use of the technical support provided by Rosetta Stone, but you do not have to.

Congratulations, your Rosetta Stone Version 3: French is installed.
