Believe was launched in September 2007 and it is the fifth fragrance launched by pop princess Britney Spears, following Midnight Fantasy that was released in late 2006. Though it is a more grown up scent, with considerably more depth than her previous scents, the characteristic femininity and girly sweetness found in all of Britney’s perfumes can also be entirely felt through this one. Believe sets itself apart from Britney’s signature scents, while retaining a fair amount of warm, sweet sensuality and charm.

Believe comes in a clear, very elegantly shaped bottle: it is very prismatic, combining many sharp, triangular planes in an elegant, but fun, multi-faceted composition. Consistent with the bottle’s style, the cap is also triangular and clear. On the upper side of the bottle there is a small ‘Britney heart’ insignia. The bottle is quite unique on the marketplace, but also amongst the other Britney Spears fragrances. The outer packaging is equally elegant: green, black and pink spots on a pure white box compliment Britney’s logo and the name of the perfume on the other side. The color theme alludes to youthfulness and spontaneity, being coherent with the sensation of freedom that the fragrance intends to instill. The box opens in an unexpected way, perfectly matching the overall feel of freshness and vitality of the fragrance.

The perfume is available in very small bottles of 10ml (travel mini spray), but also in regular bottles of 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP. The products that accompany the fragrance are: 100 ml body lotion, shower gel and shimmer body powder. It can also be purchased as a gift set.

Believe is a light, sensual scent that relies on the seductive blend of several warm, fruity notes. The top notes are guava and tangerine, the middle notes are honeysuckle and linden blossom and finally, the base notes are patchouli, amber and pralines. The fragrance opens with a mouthwatering burst of sweetness resulting from the combination between guava and the citrusy aroma of tangerine. Then, it quickly evolves into a delicate, very feminine and soft scent that evokes feelings of youthfulness and freshness. The dry down is spicy and sophisticated, but still very sensual.

The fragrance is most suitable for daily wear, since it is very light and fun. Though its sweet fruitiness is a clear sign that it is targeted to a younger audience, it can also be worn by mature women that feel youthful and are free spirited.

Overall, Believe succeeds in distinguishing itself amongst the fruity floral family of scents, by balancing its sweet warmth with a touch of maturity and idealism that is sure to make a statement consistent with the tagline: "The greatest freedom is to believe in yourself".
