Tiger Woods: He'll be back

by Jane Kay

There are more out there.

More women, much like the ones who have come forward already but with one big difference;  they have too much dignity to publicize what was private.

However, they too probably had something happen with Tiger and they too, dreamed that maybe – just maybe – he would fall for them, too. Then there is a slew of others who came to their senses and do not have much to tell because they were too smart and too quick to fall for Tiger and believe he might leave his wife for them.

Then there are the really smart ones who knew ahead of time that admitting to sleeping with a married man is the one kind of publicity that can ruin you; bad publicity.

So there are most likely others out there, somewhere.

My question to you is: so what?
Seriously, so what?

The guy is the most recognized athlete on the planet. People who don’t know exactly what Michael Jordan looks like, know Tiger. Men and women, equally, know Tiger Woods. He is by far the best golfer this planet has ever known.

So what that stupid man was thinking when he decided to bed all these women, and how he ever believed it would remain a secret, I will never know.  He'd be better off flaunting it for the world to see, and have the world openly condemn his philandering ways but acknowledge that despite this fact - he's awesome.

But no - he crashed into a tree most likely running away from a wife with a golf club, busted his lip open, finally got caught and became the butt of countless jokes.

That said, the facts remain the same.  He is the best golfer that this planet has ever known, and in my mind, there is no close runner-up in existence. Not yet, anyway. (Mickelson can kiss my -!)

Tiger made golf cool. Tiger made golfing cool.

Gillette can get rid of him, Nike can fire him if they want, Gatorade can trash him. The man has hundreds of millions of dollars; a $4 million deal is meaningless to him. A $40 million deal hardly makes a dent to his empire.  He'll never again be the face that stands for fidelity, but his endorsement days are far from over.

Ultimately, Tiger brings life to golf, and while golf is not going anywhere even without Tiger, golf is much more popular with Tiger. Tiger isn’t the only athlete who ever cheated (profusely, I might add), and he won’t be the last.  The public that is disappointed in him still believes in his golf game.

Damn him now, but remember this –
