Volunteering is a rewarding experience with many benefits. You are doing something that you can feel proud to do, as well as gain valuable work experience, and give back to those in your community.

There are many different types of jobs available for those wishing to volunteer. As an added bonus, the work you perform on a volunteer basis can be used on your resume or as a reference.

To help you get started, here are a few places in Milwaukee who can really use your time!

MY HOME, YOUR HOME
This non profit agency helps at risk youth and their families with 8 different programs, including shelters for women and children. Volunteers are needed to assist with special events and fundraisers, assist with the shelter, clerical work, as well as other opportunities. For more information, visit www.mhyh.org

MILWAUKEE WOMEN'S CENTER
Providing care for older women who have been victims of abuse, MWC is seeking social workers, therapists, and counselors willing to donate their time and services to women in the program. Opportunities are available for those 18 and up with atleast one week day of availability. Visit www.milwaukeewomenscenter.org for more information.

CASA
Court Appointed Special Advocates are a special group of men and women who wish to make a difference in the lives of children.As a CASA volunteer, you will work with children and families involved in the court system, acting as a mentor for the children. You will provide home visits and in home studies to determine the best needs of the child.  You must complete 40 hours of training to serve as a volunteer, as well as be 21 years of age, and able to pass a background check. www.kidsmatterinc.org

BAY VIEW COMMUNITY CENTER
Helping low income families in need of food assistance, the Bay View Community Center offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including pick up and delivery of food from local businesses, stocking pantry, unload trucks, and more. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, and able to work a 1 to 2 hour shift, short or long term. To volunteer with this program, visit www.bayviewcenter.org for more information.

EASTER SEALS
The Easter Seals provide help, education, outreach, an advocacy for people living with autism and other disabilities. There are many positions for volunteers that include assisting with fundraisers, clerical, and more. To volunteer, visit their website at www.easterseals.org
