How to get rid of cellulite

Cellulite - don't you just hate it? Fat is really not a bad thing. Our bodies need fat to be healthy. It's when fat is out of control that we begin to see problems. One of the problems of excess fat is cellulite. Cellulite is a term created by French cosmetologists and refers to that uneven and dimpled fat that appears around the butt, thighs and stomach areas.

Cellulite is actually a collection of fat cells expanding and pushing against your skin, giving your skin that uneven, dimpled, cottage cheese look. Cellulite is difficult to get rid of, and sadly, you'll never be completely rid of it. But, if you exercise regularly and eat healthier, cellulite will become less noticeable.

Even supermodels have problems with cellulite, so don't be too hard on yourself. Here are some simple steps you can take to get rid of cellulite:

First, Focus on You

Take a hard look at your life. Are you happy? If not, take care of the thing or things that are making you unhappy. Do you feel unworthy? Likewise, take care of those things as well. Do you have unhealthy habits? Get rid of them. If you aren't your own biggest fan, then who will be?

Focus on getting yourself to where you really care about what you put in your body and how you take care of it. Decide you're going to do whatever it takes to achieve a healthy, fit body and lifestyle. Then make some goals, set out a plan to get there and commit!

Targeted Exercise

I know, you don't want to hear about exercise, but there's just no way around it. If you want to lose cellulite, you're gonna have to exercise. If you dislike exercise, then you'll want to spend as little time as possible doing it. That means targeting the specific areas where you have cellulite.

Choose exercises that concentrate on the butt and thigh areas. Squats, leg lifts and stair machines all target these problem areas. Remember to start slow and consult your doctor before beginning any new exercise regimen.

Combine Healthy Eating with Exercise

Cellulite will lessen over time if you eat a healthy diet low in saturated fats and trans-fatty acids. That means replacing fast food and processed foods with whole foods, fresh fruit, whole grains and vegetables. You're gonna have to reduce overall fat intake and choose healthy fat over processed unhealthy fat - in other words, lean meat and nuts instead of twinkies and chips.

Limit your daily intake of calories - you don't need a weight chart and a fancy equation for this - just eat less overall, and eat better when you do eat.

Take a Good Multi-vitamin

I can't stress this enough. Talk to your doctor or to a nutritionist about what multi-vitamin is right for you. There are a lot of choices for vitamins out there so make sure you get good, solid information backed up by scientific evidence.

Drink Lots of Water

Your body is made up of mostly water and it just makes sense to keep it filled with what it needs - water. Most folks don't drink enough water and it shows on their bodies. Water flushes out impurities, gives your skin a healthy glow, makes working muscles easier and decreases your appetite. Along with exercise and your new healthy eating habits, water will only help you get rid of more and more cellulite.

Be Careful

There are lots of remedies ranging from creams to liposuction to shock treatments that will supposedly get rid of cellulite quickly and permanently. Be cautious of these promises - remember the old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Treatments that promise immediate and spectacular results with little or no effort are everywhere. It's best to speak with your doctor about healthy ways to get rid of cellulite.
