Blogging success can be measured by the number of visits to your blog, and by having followers who regularly read and comment on your blog posts. When you start blogging for money you will need to have a blog with plenty of good content, and to make sure the blog has enough search engine traffic. Following a few simple tips should get you started in blogging, and will give you a good idea of what is required to achieve blogging success.
1. Create a unique blog.
You can use a free blog host to start blogging, or buy a domain name and use a web hosting service. You will need to choose a name for your blog, in addition to deciding on a domain or a sub-domain.
You can blog anonymously under any name you choose, or as yourself under your real name. You will want to become well known for blogging under your chosen name, and should use it to build your reputation, so be sure to stick with the same name in all your networking online.
2. Create original content.
You will need to have an idea about the type of content you want to post. You can feature images, video and audio content, provided you have permission or hold the copyright.
Writing your own original articles is one of the best ways to make your blog popular. You can write from personal experience, write opinion pieces and ask for comments, write product reviews to promote affiliate programs, or write enthusiastically and informatively on your niche topic.
3. Use keywords for search engine optimization.
Each blog post will be individually indexed by search engines so you should have effective keywords in each title, and repeat some keywords when writing the content. Appropriate tags for each post will also help your blog to show in more search results, when people seek information on the topics you write about.
4. Be considerate to friends or followers.
When you become part of the blogging community you should be active in your participation, by visiting blogs and adding comments, sharing links, and by following other people or adding new friends at social sites. That is how you gain a good reputation and build up your own following. When you use social sites and blogging communities correctly, more people will see what you post on your blog.
Remember to respond to good comments on your blog. You should moderate blog comments and use a spam filter, so only genuine blog comments get published.
5. Maintain your blog.
You will only achieve blogging success when you understand the need to maintain a blog. People will lose interest in a blog with no new content. Some of the most successful blogs have new posts added several times a day. It is better to blog at least once a day or regularly add a few new posts each week.
Search engines give preference to sites that show new original content, so it is better to publish regular short posts, rather than writing an occasional long article. You can easily cut a long article down into a series of blog posts, and then your blog visitors will keep coming back to stay informed.
You cannot expect instant blogging success. A new blog with two or three posts will never be popular or profitable. After a few months of regular blogging, you should see a big difference in the number of blog visitors, and you will have greater potential for making money with your blog.
