The Star
Endless waves of turmoil,
Ocean rises, ocean lies,
If I could only reach the Star from atop this wave.
Suddenly, swoosh,
Down I go,
Grabbing sand just beneath the water.
Calmness.
If only the wind would pickup I could top the wave again.
Fist still clenched tightly filled with sand.
Wind, wind where are you?
Suddenly, swoosh
Up I go.
So much happiness in my heart,
The Star is now within reach.
I open my fist to grab the Star,
And there amongst the sand,
Is a perfect pearl.
My eyes become fixed upon the pearl.
Waves rise up and waves go down,
Each dip,
A pearl surfaced.
Endless pearls strung together by time,
Form a beautiful treasure.
The wave rises,
A bright glimmer in the sky catches my eye,
My eyes once again focus upon the Star.
It’s so beautiful, so perfect!
Then just for a moment,
My eyes shift to the pearls,
And down I go into another dip.
Another pearl gained.
The wave rises again,
My eyes gaze upon the Star.
It is so magnificent!
How did I ever lose sight of it?
For the first time my eyes remain focused on the Star.
The pearls no longer a thought,
Suddenly I realize the wave doesn’t dip.
I go to reach for the Star but somehow it is now a part of me,
Perfectly positioned above my head like a beautiful halo.

I'll write your name upon a star,

Diamonds strewn on velvet black,
Stars of a mobile sky,

My Star
I am but a single light
Flickering through the void of dark,
Emotions rise then die;
No smoke escapes, it's all inside.
