Many of us will be having guests over this holiday season and what better way to make them feel at home than with a small basket of goodies in the guest room. If you have one guest over this set up will be perfect. However, if you have a bunch coming over you will need to adjust the amounts to fit the numbers. In the basket you might want to include a pair of super fluffy towels, a holiday themed candle, and anything else you can think of that will make your guests feel welcome and thought of. More often than not, even if it is family, guests feel restricted and unsure of what is OK whats not, etc. A lovely gesture like this will hopefully make them feel a bit more relaxed and at home.
What you will need to create your guest room goodies basket:
- A basket, this doesn't have to be some expensive buy. You can go to the dollar store (if you don't already have any lying around) and buy any cheap basket. The shape and color options are up to you. Will it be picnic, or round? A large bread basket maybe?
- Cellophane, if you don't have time or money to buy the gift wrap cellophane florists use you can substitute the kitchen wrap.
- Some towels. For one person maybe a body and a face towel, unless it is a female then she would need an extra one for her hair!
- A holiday themed candle. To learn how to make your own please read: "Make candles for gifts".
- An eye mask. To learn how to make your own please read: "How to make your own homemade eye mask".
- A heat pack. To learn how to make your own please read: "How to make a microwaveable heat pack".
- Some soap, or body wash and shampoo. There are sales going on all over the place so you can easily get a gift bag like deal of toiletries cheap and in holiday decor.
- Some of the Holiday Fudge Stars. To learn how to make your own please read: "Easy homemade Christmas gifts".
- A Crossword puzzle book or a Sudoku book and a pencil.
You can visit any of the above links to learn how to make your own goodies for the basket, or if you have no time you can buy them all. Now that you have gathered all of the components for the guest room basket it is time to assemble it. Depending on the kind of the basket you got, nicely arrange all of the components and then wrap the basket up in the cellophane. Place it in a visible spot accompanied with a card welcoming your guests and letting them know that the goodies aren't just for show.
