"Quit moving around, this hard enough as is."
Kyle decided to heed The woman's command and he stopped squirming at the minor pains running through his leg.
"Amy, how are we doin' back there?" A voice called from the front of the store.
"Just finishing!" The woman attending to Kyle's leg called back as finished wrapping his thigh in gauze. "Alright kid, can you walk alright?"
Kyle got off the table, as his feet hit the ground he felt pain shoot up his leg, he winced, but he could still stand.
"Alright," The woman called Amy began, "that'll hold until we get somewhere safe, let's get out of here."
As they were moving towards the exit, a man adorning a torn dark green hoodie with a military rifle slung around his back emerged from the isles holding a pill bottle.
"Have some these kid," He said as he thrust the bottle into Kyle's hand, "they'll calm your nerves."
"You basically want me to get high?" Kyle asked.
The man nodded, Kyle didn't need telling twice, so he popped the last three pills in the bottle and discarded it to the ground, then he, Amy, and the man exited the store, out into the small parking lot. There was only one car out there, A woman was in the front seat, another man, wearing a weathered sports windbreaker and shouldering a pump action shotgun, was leaning on the hood smoking a cigarette. As the trio approached the man on the hood took a final drag and tossed the cigarette to the ground.
"You got a name son?" The man, who looked to be in his early forties said to Kyle.
"Kyle Singer."
"Alright Kyle, I'm Jonas, thats Nolan, the lady who patched you up is Amy, woman driving is Rose, you all right?"
"I've been better, but I'll live where we headed?" Kyle asked.
"The University, there's supposed to be a military chopper stranded on the roof."
"You heard that on a radio too, then. How long has it been running."
"Been on a loop for three hours now." Rose piped up from the front seat.
"The broadcast comes from a signal on the roof the university's library," Nolan began "The chopper pilot says that he ran out of gas and performed and emergency landing, we got some gas, so let's go for it."
"There aren't many other options at this point, let's get a move on..."
Kyle collapsed outside the door of the car in a daze, his vision was blurred and he could hear their moans and screams in the distance.
"Kyle! Rose! Get up! they're coming."
Kyle groped the area around him, searching for his pistol.
