I wish I could tell you my stories,
The tales of my glamorous hell.
The times in my life I succeeded,
And the times when my spirit had fell.
But instead I listen intently
To your knowledge and experience.
Hoping one day you’ll listen as closely,
Hoping one day it all will make sense.
Maybe someday you’ll ask me
Why I behave in the way that I do.
Maybe someday I’ll tell you,
But then maybe you’ll tell me ‘We’re through.’
So although I want you to know me,
It’s a risk I’m not willing to take:
To put all of my eggs in one basket
Then to watch as you make my heart break.
For now we can struggle through silence
Discussing our dreams and the weather.
But I’ll be saving my intimate secrets
For a day when you might know me better.

Tired and hurt by their deceiving
I had given up believing
in a Mister Right for me
I faced a lonely destiny
But then you
