Streets born of sand and stone,
Fall beneath my feet,
I find myself in crowded rooms,
Wandering aimlessly.
For every light of hope,
There still stand the walls,
Of all the smiles that follow me,
I still feel so small.
Every shadow that falls,
I know it's only me,
Trapped in light, reflecting dark,
Some hidden side of me.
It's not sun that haunts me,
Nor do I feel it's heat,
Yet the darkest dreams I ever had,
Seem to follow me.

Fear of failing so I smile,
Hold my head up and take a step,
Walking reluctant miles.
So maybe darkness is not so bad,
When it illuminates in the light,
Like the shadow that always follows you,
You cannot find at night.
