You write because writing is what you know. Therefore write for the passion of writing.
Writing is a passion. It is a writer’s breathe a writer’s sighs. It’s what makes a writer sing hallelujah in the morning. A writer writes and therefore a writer is.
For writers there is nothing greater than writing with passion. Our words are most true when we can be passionate about the subject of which we write.
There is a certain passion that is infectious when you come up with a new way to spin a phrase or explain a concept. A good essay or story can be akin to winning a marathon if you put enough of yourself in it.
The excitement carries over when others read what you write and they relate to it. When you write with passion you let them take a piece of you with them and, if they like that piece, they are likely to come back for more. They will get to know you as a writer and they will start to relate.
Part of encouraging that relation is writing in your own voice. Don’t be William Shakespeare. Be yourself. Develop your own voice and style of writing.
American novelist John Barth said, “A writer knows he’s a writer.” Columnist Karl Iglesias shared the following quote from Chicana poet Gloria Anzaldua on his website www.karliglesias.com.
“Write with your eyes like painters, with your ears like musicians, with your feet like dancers. You are the truth-sayers with quill and torch. Write with your tongue on fire. Don't let the pen banish you from yourself.”
Writing carries with it a responsibility to share what you believe is the truth. Be passionate with your thoughts. Let them cover the page as if it is your gift to the reader. After all, these are the truths you hold important. They should be important enough to share on the written page.
You are the writers and the painters. You are sharing your world, your loves or interests. You are letting others see through your eyes, to borrow them perhaps until they get to the end of the page.
According to www.QuoteGarden.com , novelist Ray Bradbury said, “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” If we write passionately we can cushion life’s blows and its blues, numbing it down by letting it out.
Let yourself become intoxicated on your own writing. Write for the passion of writing. Embrace your words.
If you put that much passion into the craft, others will embrace them too.
