Poetry: Rape

I can wear my little black number

I can paint up my face and ruby my lips

I can shake it so you wonder

wiggle my walk, showing off my hips

The party was fun until, next year

Well on my way without fear

until the shadows hide him

wiped off my grin

forced on the ground

smile upside down

turned around

cannot yell out

too afraid

I let it happen

my fault

maybe I should have worn

no maybe my face

no

and so it goes

as my fears grow

I stay to myself

the party's over

Time heals

the wheels spinning

thinking of a time

thinking of heels

another time

not even me

so long ago

it seems like yesterday

sometime so vivid

leaving me livid

the panic still there

although he is not here

I am the one in a prison of my own mind

All I did was try to impress

a party I did go

in my little black dress

and for one moment of fun

I have a lifetime of hell to pay

Thanks for the memories

the pictures in my mind they will always be.
