In memory
No longer could you stall
The angel’s gentle wings.
Long now have you been called
To meet with heaven’s kings.
So soft did they surround you,
I didn’t hear their tread,
But I heard the angels singing
As they took you from our bed.
You embroidered these few words
Upon the throw across the couch:
“The best is yet to come,”
But now I have my doubts.
The best is yet to come.
Oh how I pray it’s true.
I know it still can come to pass
In an eternity with you.
