In the vast world of weight loss tips and techniques that range from the bizarre to common sense ideas, the Internet has become an endless source of choices on how to lose weight. Slowly coming to the forefront in popularity as a possible aid to weight loss is a sweet and spicy idea - cinnamon and honey. These two innocent ingredients in a kitchen cupboard have combined forces to become yet another option for people's weight loss efforts.
According to studies that recommend this new diet aid, the mixture of the cinnamon powder and honey can help stop the body from accumulating fat. Cinnamon affects blood sugar and the way it is processed in the body, so it has a chance to break down in a way that does not turn into fat. The rumors of cinnamon include information that abdominal weight is sensitive to cinnamon so can be a weight loss aid.
The following instructions in preparing this advise that this drink mixture is prepared in the evening before going to bed.
Boil 8 ounces of water.
Pour water over 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and cover. Let it steep for thirty minutes.
Add honey when cooled. They advise not adding the honey when the water is hot since the heat will destroy the enzymes and nutrients.
Drink half of this mixture before going to bed. Put the other half of the mixture in the refrigerator and drink in the morning either cold or at room temperature.
Do not add anything else to the mixture and only drink once a day. They advise that this is most effective when taken on an empty stomach.
There have been various results from those who try this as a weight loss remedy. For some, they say they have lost weight. And others have complained about gaining weight since they started drinking the mixture. As with all weight loss remedies, individual results may vary. But, many studies have found that these two ingredients have other healthy benefits, so people may want to try adding cinnamon and honey to their diet in other forms as well.
Help prevent heart disease:
This interesting combination of honey and cinnamon is also toted as helping to reduce heart disease when made into a paste and eaten on bread for breakfast. The mixture seems to lessen the cholesterol produced in the body and helps stave off heart attacks. Studies done in residential care facilities have found that a diet that includes honey and cinnamon has been found to strengthen the patient's arteries and veins.
Reduces pain of arthritis:
A paste of one part honey, two parts of lukewarm water, and a teaspoon of cinnamon are reported to reduce pain when rubbed on areas where arthritis is bothering a patient. Experts also suggest taking 1 tablespoon of honey and a half teaspoon of cinnamon powder before breakfast to help reduce arthritic pain and help with flexibility.
Toothaches:
Applying a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey can be applied to a painful tooth three times a day to relieve pain as you're waiting for a dentist appointment.
Other uses for this magic combination are said to also help cure bladder infections, indigestion, colds, upset stomachs, skin infections, fatigue, bad breath and even hearing loss. While skeptics may wonder about the benefits of honey and cinnamon, enough studies have been done to put this powerful combination high on your list of things to try for not only a weight loss aid, but for a healthy addition to your regular diet as well!
