How to calculate calories burned from exercise

It's a well known fact that diet plus exercise equals weight loss. For those conscientious dieters who also count calories while dieting, there is also a way to calculate how many calories that are burned off during exercise. Prolonged forms of exercise will raise an individual's metabolism and will help burn extra calories, but only if you keep your heart within the target range for an extended period of time in order to be effective.

While high impact aerobics and running naturally top the list of being the best at burning the most calories, those who are not able to do high impact forms of exercise no longer have to be left in a quandary of the best forms of exercise that will also efficiently burn calories since there is a long list of exercise options provided on the following website. http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist.htm

While naturally the amount of calories you burn is dependent on body weight, the intensity of your work out, your condition and your metabolism also have an effect as well.  The chart on the above website provides a long list of exercise options for any level of exercise enthusiast. They use the sample body weights of 130, 155 and 190 pounds for comparison. This site will give you an idea of the wide range of aerobic exercise choices and how well each exercise will burn calories. With high impact aerobics taking its rightful place at being at the top portion of the list, gardening lovers and dance enthusiasts are in the list as well. While golfing makes the list, they do place the golfers who enjoy riding those motorized carts around the golf course at the very bottom of the list.

With the wide array of charts available on the Internet, it's easy to calculate how efficiently your chosen exercise is working for you at burning calories. If you know the number of calories that are burned for one minute of your favorite exercise, you can easily calculate it with a pen and paper without an official calculator too. For instance, low impact aerobics can burn about 6.2 calories a minute, so 30 minutes of low impact exercise will burn away 186 calories.

This website contains a chart to enter in your weight and activity, and it will help you determine how long you have to do a particular activity in order to lose weight.  http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc

Exercise not only will help you in your weight loss goals, but you will be experiencing the added benefits of a healthy heart and body that will serve to keep you living a long and healthy life.
