Hundreds of non profits in the Memphis area depend on the services provided by volunteers in order to keep providing the great services they provide to the community. You can find an assortment of different jobs you can perform as a volunteer.

Any amount of time you can offer will be welcomed, and it is something you will feel good about doing. If you have free time, contact one of the many places that can use your time. A few opportunities available in the area include:


THE SALVATION ARMY
With acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Salvation Army believes all people can change in a positive way. Many services are provided by this organization, including men and women's rehabilitation centers, shelter for homeless women and their children, The Christmas Angel Tree Program, providing gifts to low income families in the area, and more.

As a volunteer, you can assist with many projects, including ringing the bell for kettle collections, sorting and stocking shelves, and more as they become available. For more information, visit www.salvationarmymemphis.org

YOUTH VILLAGES
Youth Villages provides services for troubled teens and their families, with a mission of success for every person. Behavioral Interventions, adoptions, foster care, long & short term residential facilities, and therapy are just a few of the many services provided.

Volunteers can assist with fundraisers, office work, mentoring, and sponsoring a family for the holidays. You must fill out an application and be able to pass a background check. Visit www.youthvillages.org to learn more

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Providing home ownership to low income families in the area. Homes are built from ground up. Volunteers are always needed. If you don't mind a little hard work, assist with the construction of one of these homes. If this is not for you, consider volunteering in the office, with fundraisers, and more. MEMPHIS ZOO
Children all the way up to adults can volunteer with the zoo. There are many different positions for volunteers, including feeding and cleaning animals, assisting with zoo events, serving as a tour guide, and becoming a zoo ambassador. MEMPHIS PUBLIC LIBRARY
Volunteering with the library will be a rewarding experience, as you help others in the community with the wonderful world of reading.You can volunteer at any library branch, and after 30 hours of service, you will be rewarded with free library materials, special events, and a yearly volunteer appreciation dinner.
