How to lose weight without exercise

The Slacker's Low Expectations Diet

Let me see if I have this right.  You don’t exercise at all and you eat a horrible diet of processed or fast food that is high in fat and sugar.  Also, you have a high stress life dealing with an overloaded schedule that fails to effectively balance your responsibilities at work and at home; not to mention you have no social life.  Mentally you feel like a depressed zombie roaming the earth from one set of responsibilities to the other and although you’re intellectually aware of what’s needed to lose weight it just seems like something you don’t have the time or energy to deal with knowing what’s on your plate.

Does this sound like you?  If it does and you are interested in losing weight under these conditions you are in luck.  The fact of the matter is that you are already in such bad shape that pretty much any effort you make on the diet front should be an improvement.  Over the last 5 months I have been successful in losing approximately 15 pounds under exactly these conditions and I did it without one bit of exercise and with zero changes to how I handled the rest of my life.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not a model for those before and after pictures going from 400 pounds to a svelte 200 but I’m a bit happier knowing I’ve made some progress and lost some weight.  I was actually most psyched about the fact that I crossed the BMI threshold from Obese down to merely Severely Overweight.  Again, it’s not the greatest of progress but it’s enough to give your self a little pat on the back.

So how did I do it?  If I had to boil it down for you I would say the easiest thing you can do is to make enough small changes to make some difference.  Yes, I’m setting the bar kind of low but really that’s about all you can handle right now isn’t it.  The goal really is to achieve some kind of success and see if you can make it stick for the long term.  I’m not going to tell you how many servings of fruits and vegetables to eat or how to limit your carbs and fats.  If you’re like me your eyes glaze over when you hear these types of suggestions as they represent a pretty hard line change from where you are now.  I think I can break down my recommendations into seven points that I think the most diehard of slackers can handle.

1)      Don’t
