Advice on the journey of life

by Roderick L. Evans

Created on: December 18, 2009

"You can do it the easy way or the hard way." This statement is the sum total of the best advice given for the journey of life. Life comes with twists, turns, oppositions, ups, downs, sorrows, and confusing times. However, to avoid undue set backs and disappointments (for they will come), acceptance is key. Life can be difficult and problems unending, but if one is to do life's journey the easy way, there has to be a willingness to accept it as it comes.

Yes. Life can seem unfair when we see others with limited problems, cares, and concerns. Yet, if we focus on this, we will certainly make our individual journeys hard. Some have said that life is a mystery to be solved. Such a noble statement. However, life is complex and can never be deciphered, our predecessors have shown this to us. But, if we accept it as it comes, deal with what is presented to us, learn from it what we can, and help others as we live, we will find that life may be more of a joy than a burden. Such sentiments may seem unreasonable in light of the ills of society and the devastating events that may occur. Nevertheless, if we are honest, we have seen rich individuals who were miserable and downtrodden individuals who lived in peace. It is evident who did it the easy way or who did it the hard way.

Life does not stop and keeps progressing on. Our individual journeys will be easier or harder depending upon our acceptance of what comes and maintaining a proper perspective. Simple advice for the journey of life. Utilize the E.A.S.Y. acronym as your approach life's journey.

1. E - Enjoy the different aspects of your life when opportunities arise; this includes family, friends, meals, employment, hobbies, and the like.

2. A - Accept life as it comes, good and bad. When you accept things as they are, it sets you up to handle them properly and yet maintain emotional stability.

3. S - Simply your life. This is an individual challenge. What may complicate someone else's life may be a part of another's simplicity. You decide. You have enough to deal with in life, do not add extra burdens if it is in your power to do so.

4. Y - Yell sometimes. No, I don't mean at others. At times, it is good to get by yourself and just give out a yell. Trust me, it will reduce stress and may have therapeutic value during times of great distress and confusion in your life.

Endeavor to approach life the easy way. You and others will appreciate your efforts and most importantly, you will be the main benefactor of doing it the easy way. You can do it (life) the easy way or the hard way - you decide.
