Bakeries often get overlooked in a city where street vendors and famous cheese steak restaurants rule. When you're on the prowl for something to satisfy your sugar cravings, visit one of these popular bakeries and sweet shops. Your sweet tooth will thank you.

Naked Chocolate Café

When it comes to indulgent confections, this café/bakery is anything but bare. With piles of chocolates, dipped pretzels, fancy cupcakes and delicacies like pumpkin mouse and Oreo pie, guests will have a hard time choosing. Popular for having hot chocolate so thick and rich it’s almost overwhelming, Naked Chocolate is a great place to visit with someone who'll share the delectables.

Isgro’s

Within a block from this 10th and Christian location, you’ll begin to smell the sweet desserts awaiting you inside this Italian bakery that has been baking pastries for over 100 years. Located in the famous Italian Market area in South Philly, Isgro’s is a family owned bakery that is stocked full of pastries like cannolis, fruit tarts, éclairs, napoleons and cakes and cookies—all beautifully decorated by the friendly staff.

Termini Brothers

Located in the busy food court below the Comcast Center in Center City, Termini Brothers tantalizes those who walk by with a display of small cakes, slices of pie, cupcakes, cheesecakes and more. The best part of this bakery is the fast-pace atmosphere—many of the desserts are individually packaged and on display for shoppers to grab and go.

Swiss Haus Bakery

If you love sponge cake and vanilla butter cream all topped with chocolate shavings, The Swiss Haus Pastry Shop on 19th street will be your new favorite place.  This is where the famous Hazelnut cake is served. This recipe was brought to Philly from Europe many years ago and remains a fan-favorite. The shop also creates beautiful custom cakes for special occasions.

With tempting, gorgeous sweets beckoning taste buds all around the city, these bakeries don’t disappoint. In a city, like Philly, where many visitors come to try the food, it is important to have establishments with friendly staff and tasty treats. These bakeries go a step further by adding a fine craftsmanship, uniqueness and history to their creations, which makes them all the more sweet.
