Which is better old-fashioned bar soap or newfangled body wash? My choice is definitely body wash. I enjoy it over bar soap for many reasons.

Growing up we used old-fashioned bar soap so I know there’s a big difference. As soon as I was on my own and buying my own things I purchased body wash.

I remember only having a certain place on the tub you could place the bar soap. If you placed it anywhere else it would just slip and slide into the tub making what seemed like a ten second task feel like a lifetime. When you have body wash it will practically go anywhere. As long as you have a flat surface you will have a place to set it.

Another thing I hated about bar soap was the nasty gunk it left on the tub. It would always leave a ring where the water washed off more soap creating suds to dry. At least this always provided a little bit more traction making it easier to keep the soap in one spot.

As a woman I love taking baths and using a body wash means I have versatility. With body washes I can use them for bubble baths and some of them I can even use as shampoo. Bar soap could never be used for anything like that.

The variety for bar soaps cannot even compare to body washes. I’ve seen a variety of bar soap scents but I’ve never seen scents like Candy Cane, Holiday Spice, Cinnamon Buns, or Red Velvet Cake. Body washes also provide a great amount of suds and superior washing abilities.

Bar soap is more wasteful too. When it starts to dwindle down in the last leg of its life you’re left with a thin fragile piece of soap. Just when you start to lather up your washcloth it breaks! We have all experienced that. Afterwards you are then left with two thin pieces. At that point I would just throw it away. With body wash you can squeeze out almost every last drop. Some people may argue that there’s less packaging with bar soaps but most body wash containers are recyclable.

Whether you like old-fashioned bar soap or newfangled body wash it’s not a bad thing. At least you smell fresh! But the choice is clear to me. I love a great product with a variety and versatility. For me that product is body wash.
