Oh well this is something I struggle with myself, though I don't have a girlfriend of course; my wife doesn't allow that! I'm not sure if coming up with good gift ideas for your wife is possibly even harder than for a girlfriend but I don't think I'm going to have ten good suggestions here; more a few general pointers and ideas as well as specific suggestions of things I know have been well received as gifts for my loved one in the past!

The thing to remember with gifts for anyone is, of course, to have that person first and foremost in your mind! It sounds obvious but if we're honest it is surprising how often that isn't quite happening. Okay, the old cliche guy buying down the hardware store for his better half is a bit stretched but a lot of us struggle a little to think just of what will please our partner without having half an eye on whether we like the item or idea too. So stop and think about what your girlfriend would appreciate for herself. This is your chance to really put her first, spoil and pamper her showing in the process your love for her!

Hopefully you know your girlfriend well enough to have a good idea of what kind of gifts she would love to receive and perhaps any interests she has that you can think around. Remember too that as her boyfriend you have a special relationship; she may want and expect different, more personal gifts from you than she would from other friends and family. You may even have a 'public' gift for her and another special 'private' gift that is just between the two of you. A gift of sexy lingerie for instance will tell her not only that you love her but you find her sexy too!

If you're lucky your girlfriend may even have been dropping hints for you if you've paying attention! There are lots of products that women enjoy and desire that can make great gifts for girlfriends. For instance if your girlfriend loves to look good she probably wants a good hair day everyday! If she hasn't already got one I guarantee she probably wants a GHD hair styling iron! To the uninititiated male these things look like regular hair tool thingamies but you can't buy them down the hardware store! A lot of women use them straighten hair but they are actually equally good for putting in curls and waves! I swear my wife adores her styling irons! They are fairly pricey but one of those times when the cost does reflect a much better product; the old ones my wife had previously simply didn't compare and never get out the back of the bathroom cupboard now!

Another thing to consider is you don't necessarily have to give a thing but could treat your girlfriend to an experience instead, for instance a pamper voucher at her favourite beauty place or a local spa. Or perhaps surprise her with a romantic weekend away somewhere?
