Humor & Laughter

Would a humorous approach to life make a difference?

Would humor make a difference? I find that question a bit humorous, truth be told. Anyone who has lived even a day of life should know that humor can change an attitude, put a new spin on a topic, or just make someone who's been sitting in the corner of the room not saying a word bust into uncontrollable laughter.

Humor on Helium? Yes! I don't believe every single article written should be required to have a laugh track playing behind it, but I do think that, no matter how serious the topic, even a small reference to humor that might illicit a one-sided smile (you know the kind, where only half your face moves upward) would be appreciated by someone. Even if it is just that one person, at least that's something.

Humor, in it's rarest form, can turn a room full of uptight, angry people into a group of people who are okay with being in that room, with that group of people, after all. Making light of your own imperfections can make people feel more at ease around you. Overdoing that, however, can turn them back into the uncomfortable people they were in the beginning. That said, humor, as with almost everything, has it's time and place, and overindulgence in anything may not produce the desired affect (remember that the next time you take that tub of rocky road out of the freezer).
