A Man Who Was
There was once a man who
Leaned against a window sill,
His eyes as open as the clear, quiet, night
He thought about his life and
The images came and went,
Some were clear and as bright as a star
Others just seemed to fade like average days,
He remembered his boy's birth, and yet seemed
To have forgotten how he became a man,
Was it the booze? Yes, there were many of those nights.
He thought of his wife and smiled,
When he thought of her sweet voice,
And the moments before he became a father.
It was a warm summer evening on a beach,
Soft waves lapping against the shore, and
He said to his wife as he kissed her sweet lips,
I wonder what kind of man he will be?

I know that there are
