I have a bit of a problem with the continued controversy of God in our public schools, and the controversy of racism that have both become HOT TOPICS. I do have compassion for all those believers of the two subjects concerning Christianity or racism. However; I think that both are often times over reacted subjects.
Many times it is a simple answer, and that answer would be common sense.
We, as parents, have the responsibility to teach our children to try to understand and to recognize common sense, and to encourage ones own belief; albeit, anyone needs to be prepared to calmly discuss our conviction when challenged. When a parent over reacts to a situation and is witnessed by their children, then the child is likely to feel that the parent is correct in their behavior; even though that is common and often, very good. Still; we as parents should take the issue into consideration before we speak, especially before we verbalize in an unfavorable manner.
I believe in God, I feel it should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance, and I cannot accept as true that it is a problem in our schools; even though it is. I, too, have faith that all mankind should be treated equal; and racism should never be a factor, yet it often can be. The color of our skin; our religious belief, nor our conviction should be reason to creat disagreement. We are each intitaled to our own view; however, we should not expect everyone to think as we do.
Grown-up adults should take the time to discuss any and all matters in a civil manner. To shout disagreement only creates hard feelings. To put it in the news media creates public debate. ‘Then, the Hatfield’s and the McCoy’s continue to feud’ so to speak.
It would be good if one citizen could calmly approach the opposite contender, and ask if they would permit an open discussion concerning the issue. Adults should try to keep an open mind, and should be in agreement to consent to their opponent to voice their opinion; and hopefully they could come to a reasonable agreement. All adults, all people, are entitled to their personal belief, yet no one should ever expect everyone to accept their idea completely. We Americans consider it our FREEDOM OF SPEECH to exercise our own viewpoint on any subject.
As I have publicly exercised my FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, and FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
I hope you will share your input.
Sincerely
