Driving poses many potential problems, such as car accidents, theft, carjackings, and other dangerous hazards. Women should be cognizant and prepared for any of the potential perils that the road possesses.
Personal safety for women while driving includes being ready for any circumstance that may occur. A backup plan should also be in place for any safety conscious motorist.
Personal safety for women while driving includes being prepared for any surprises that may arise, having a reliable vehicle, having a cell phone and GPS unit, stocking a First Aid Kit in the car, and being overly cautious when making decisions.
Women are at the mercy of their vehicle just the same as a man is, but there are certain steps and precautions that a wise woman should take before endeavouring to go out in the car. One of the safest things to do is to make sure that you have a cell phone. Your cell phone should be charged, and you should have programmed in a whole slew of emergency contact numbers.
In case of an emergency, such as a major collision, you should be prepared to call not just 911, but several local police stations, tow trucks from the general region you are travelling in, doctor's offices, walk in clinics, repair shops, and taxi cabs.
These numbers could provide you with a great sense of relief in case of an emergency. Another must have for a woman driving in order to maintain safety is a GPS unit. This can help her to stay inside of the vehicle at all times, and not have to get out of the car for information or directions.
Women are vulnerable to mishaps any time they run into vehicular trouble in an area where it is either dimly lit or poorly populated. A GPS unit can keep you on the roads more often travelled, and can help you get to a location of your choice swiftly and safely.
Having a First Aid Kit in the vehicle is a great idea for safety reasons. In case of an emergency or an accident, having a fully stocked First Aid Kit can greatly help until other medical assistance can be obtained. Bandages, gauze, slings, aspirin, antiseptics, and anything else you might need can all be extremely useful in many situations.
A safety precaution not often considered could be not pulling over for a police officer until you are in a heavily populated area that is also well lit. If you are being cited for a traffic violation, even if you feel as though you are guilty, let alone if you feel as though you have done nothing incorrectly, continue driving until you feel safe and secure pulling over.
Once pulled over, keep your doors locked, and only open the window enough to adequately speak to the officer. Immediately take the officer's badge number, and phone the local detachment to verify his identity. Once you are certain that the scenario is legitimate, you then may comply with any demands being made. Safety should always come first. There are too many impostors out there, lurking nefariously.
Safety should always be a top priority when driving, especially for women. Having a reliable vehicle that undergoes regular maintenance is also a great idea. The last thing that you want is to have car trouble on some desolate road in the middle of nowhere without cellular service.
You should also have a predictable route that someone is aware of when you are driving, in case of any trouble. This will make it easier to locate your whereabouts in case of a blizzard or road closures.
Safety should never be taken lightly.
