Throughout my life I have been witness to some pretty interesting paranormal experiences. The length and scope of my experiences has allowed me to view with interest and bemusement things that might cause other people a great deal of fear. I feel that attitude and the ability to maintain a cool head are key when confronted with strange and unlikely phenomena.
Many of my paranormal experiences have dealt with inanimate objects moving in sudden or unexpected ways. The first such experience that I recall happened when I was a teenager. My friend and I were speaking over the phone when the subject turned to a ghost he felt was living in his house. As we were discussing this topic, he suddenly stopped mid-sentence and whispered “I think she’s here.” and stated that the temperature in the room had just become quite cold. Then he added, “I don’t know why, but she seems to be interested in the phone, in you.” No sooner had the words left his lips than an old Matchbox car from childhood which had been sitting on a shelf actually backed up of its own accord and then flew forward, flying through the air and landing about half way across the room. I was astonished! In fact I was far too amazed to have witnessed an inanimate object moving in that way to be even the slightest bit upset. It seems the ghost did indeed have some kind of interest in me, because she sent that car speeding off of the shelf on three separate occasions while I was talking to my friend on the phone.
Later, I would be sitting quietly in my room, reading, when all of my music boxes would begin inexplicably to play simultaneously. They would move and play sluggishly for a few minutes, and then become silent. Sometimes this happened several times in a night. I was curious and amazed. Well, I was curious and amazed until the phenomenon had occurred nearly every day for over a month! Whatever force or entity was causing them to play seemed to be having a good time doing it, because it showed no signs of letting up! After a time, particularly on the second mysterious music event of the night, I would try asking the music boxes to stop using a bored tone of voice. This occasionally seemed to work, and the more times I requested it, the more it seemed to have an effect. After a few weeks of feigning boredom and requesting peace, whatever was causing the disturbance seemed to move on, leaving me with nothing more than wild memories of a series of events which few people will ever experience.
