When I think back to my college days, I am often reminded of what I wanted to become in life. A person of social significance would be good. The ultimate humanitarian with a passion for helping others, Is that not what we should all become?. As I continued to reflect, I began to realize that a person should strive to become a difference maker, and one’s contributions to mankind should always be never yielding. That’s the measure of a significant relevant person. That’s the measure of a difference maker. Tom Joyner is such a person. When the book of life is opened and we are measured for our accomplishments here on earth, the credentialing prerequisite and work of Mr. Joyner may inevitably raise an eyebrow for what it takes to get you through the gate.

Tom Joyner has always been the hardest working man in radio broadcasting. He’s an icon! If you listen to his radio show, he comes off as a regular guy. That’s because he is. His heart is in his radio show, and his radio show is reflective of his heart. Tom Joyner has given unlimited charitable donations to low income families over the years, and his work with providing scholarships for needy college students is unmatched. What makes a man contribute unconditionally? He obviously had a plan back during the early eighties when he initially began his career. We are all familiar with how he worked at two radio stations simultaneously for several years flying daily back and forth across the country. The astonishing thing for me is that I don’t believe for one instance that even he knew that his unconditional philanthropy would inevitably set the precedence for giving and raising money for the needy. Martin Luther King Jr. never ran for public office, because he believed that he could have a greater impact on mankind by not doing so. With this in mind, It opens up the avenue for discussion on the importance of using whatever platform necessary to positively affect the lives of others. Tom Joyner has accomplished such with his work in radio.

The Tom Joyner Foundation is the benchmark institution for providing financial assistance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. With extremely hard work and dedication, Tom’s dream of continued education within the black community has come to fruition. Since 1998, The Tom Joyner Foundation has raised over 50 million dollars. African Americans are now provided scholarships on a monthly basis to assists with tuition cost provisions
