Poetry: Christmas with family

by Carole Somerville

Created on: December 15, 2009

Christmas Dreams of Joy and Goodwill

Family squabbles resolved; a day like on the commercials

The chance for a little happiness

To help sustain us

Through the rest of the year’s hardship and strife

A visit from Santa, whose wife

Waits at home to greet him on his return

Knowing he has once more done his turn

To make the world a better place

Children’s dreams never to be replaced

Always believe in the magic of Christmas

And don’t forget, the glorious news

Of a child born so man might never lose

Hope for God sent His greatest treasure

His son, who for us would bleed and suffer

To procure our hope and joy forever

His message: hope for a world of peace, for ease for the poor

Born in a stable, destined to die for man’s sin

The world’s greatest message; let the earth rejoice in Him
