Each and every day of your life, you’re presented with a number of gifts. Some you earn and some are given freely as just a part of being alive. It’s up to you how you use these gifts. Making wise use them in accordance with your faith and the examples set forth in the Bible can mean the difference between living a happy life filled with meaning and living an empty life that is always a struggle.
The gifts that God provides aren’t material. They come in the form of the blessings of time, creation, family, and love. Because God’s greatest gifts aren’t material, we sometimes overlook our own ability to use these gifts to effect positive changes in our lives and in the lives of others.
Make the Most of the Time You Have
“O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath!” Psalm 39:4-5
Time is the great equalizer. While we are all given a different number of days on this earth, each of us gets the same number of minutes every day to do with what we can. Making wise use of your time can add value to your life financially, spiritually, and personally. The key is to set priorities. Consider for a moment what is most important to you. Family? Spiritual growth? Fitness and health? Does how you spend your time reflect those priorities?
It’s easy to forget that time is limited, but when you recognize that life does come to an end—that you don’t have an infinite amount of time—it becomes easier to set priorities and act on them accordingly.
Money Isn’t Everything, but it Sure is Something
“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?” Luke 14:28
There’s an old adage that a man who spends a dollar more than he earns a year will end up miserable while a man who spends a dollar less than he earns a year will be happy. Whether we like it or not, money plays an important role in life. It provides financial security when you manage it smartly and it provides an endless amount of stress when you manage it poorly.
Wise money management can reduce your stress and set you free to enjoy the things in life that really matter to you. If you haven’t done so recently, review your budget plan and make sure it still matches your expenses
