The Nihilist and fatalist view that life is just death and taxes is sad at the least and tragic at worst. Any thinking, reasoning, person will see that life is actually, birth, work, taxes and death, in that order. Sure, little things like friendship, family, satisfaction at a job well done, and others bring some peace, comfort and even joy into our lives. But we must never lose sight of the fundamental truth that we are all going to die sometime and nobody has done that and come back to tell the tale. So obviously we need to remember this fact and make sure our spirits are deadened by this thing which we can't control and may actually not be as bad as some people think.
Keeping our spirits high due to the singular blessings we all enjoy: a bright sun to wake us and the potential to do whatever we truly deeply desire, is such a bad idea. Living our lives with realistic outlooks and depressed, scowling faces is just the best way to go. Unfailing optimism does nobody any good. So remember, even though you are a child of a loving God who has a plan for you that takes moments of quiet pondering to understand, which pondering will fill you with joy that can consume you at times, stay negative, cynical and jaded.
Wait, that doesn't make any sense.
