Poetry: Handle with care

by Leah Curtis

Created on: December 15, 2009

Nothing important ever says

"handle with care".

Not a heart

Not a child

Not a smile

Not tears.

We learn on our own

what to handle with care.

A birth of a child

A death of a parent

The warmth of a friend

The kiss of a lover

These are the things

We should  handle with care.

Not a post-office parcel

of replaceable trinkets

or old hurts and grudges

best left forgotten,

because life can be short

and it takes but a second

for things to change quickly,

and moments, like snapshots,

are precious and sweet.

So handle with care.
