Ways to defeat discouragement

The path of life is filled with many stumbling blocks along the way, and it is up to us to rise above each and every one of them. Those stumbling blocks come in many different disguises... Discouragement is one of them.

Discouragement seems to affect us when we are already feeling low about other issues going on in our lives. But what we must never forget is that our lives are what we make of them and us alone. Always remember that we ultimately have control of our own lives. Others may seem to have some kind of hold at times on us whether it be the laws of the land, rules at school and at work, emotional ties, but at the end of the day we alone make that decision as to where we are going and what we are going to do.

There will always be the dream stealers out there, who themselves have little faith in things, and always seem to have a negative attitude towards everything.  I say hold your head towards the sky, feel that sunshine upon your face and truly believe in the fact that life does have a lot to offer but you have to go out into the world to find it.  Yes there are going to be rainy days in your life but remember every day is a different day. Take one day at a time. When you wake up each morning be grateful that you are alive to see that morning happen. Ask yourself are you happy where you are right now? what about your work enviroment etc., if not maybe you should ask yourself then perhaps its time to make a move and if that means moving further afield from where you are or going down a different path in life, the choices are out there waiting for you.  Do not allow the darkened shadows of negativity and discouragement to over shadow you or cloud your attention.

So someone or some persons said something negative to you and it left you feeling so low and discouraged, perhaps you did not get the pass mark in an exam, maybe your partner decided to call it a day on your relationship? What ever the reason, try to look beyond that darkness, that feeling of emptiness and lonliness. In trying hard for peace of mind, think of others who have also been where you are now, what they lived through and what they did to get out of it.  It takes courage but it does work. Remember there is no such thing as the word can't.   You either want to do something or you don't. The choice is yours. Its as simple as that. Yes or no.  The word selfish does not always have to mean thinking
