Tiger's Greatest Record!

Eldrick "Tiger" Woods has been the author of some pretty amazing records, since joining the PGA Tour in 1996. He has already won 55 PGA sanctioned tournaments, an average of 5.5 wins per year. With at least another 15 years of competitive golf remaining for Tiger, he will need to average less than 2 wins per year to surpass Sam Snead's record of 82 PGA Tour victories.

Of the 215 PGA events that he has entered, he has won 55 an astonishing 25%, and also placed in the top ten in 133 (61.85%) of the events.

He currently has won the last 7 tour events that he has entered, chasing only Byron Nelson's incredible record of 11 consecutive in 1945.

He has set official money earned records year after year. In 2006 he topped the tour with
$9,941,563.00 and is the all time leading money winner totaling over $66 million. By comparison Jack Nicklaus's best year on tour was 1972. He won an impressive 7 tournaments and a little over $320,000.00.

Tiger is the only professional golfer ever to win the modern day "Grand Slam" by holding the titles of the 2000 US Open, British Open Championship, PGA Championship, and the 2001 Masters. Bobby Jones won the US Open, US Amateur, British Open and British Amateur in 1930, but Jones played his entire career as an amateur.

In just 10 years on tour he has won an amazing 12 majors titles and trails only Jack Nicklaus who ended his career with 18 majors.

Possibly the 2nd most impressive record that Tiger has set since he joined the PGA Tour in 1996 is the 142 consecutive cuts that he made over a seven year period ending in 2006.

Yet with all of these lofty accomplishments, the record that likely will never be broken is the 6 years in a row that he held USGA National Championship titles.

In 1991 at the age of 15 he became the youngest player to ever win the US Junior Amateur. He won this title again in 1992 and 1993. Three consecutive US Junior Amateur titles is a feat that had never been accomplished and probably will never be accomplished again. Tiger was the best junior golfer for 3 consecutive years.

Continuing his quest for greatness, in 1994 he won the US Amateur Championship at age 18, and oh by the way he was the youngest winner ever. He won the US Amateur Championship again in 1995 and 1996. Three consecutive US Amateur Championships. There had been back to back winners of the US Amateur before, but never 3 in a row and the USGA has been holding national championships since 1895.

If a young golfer wins one US Amateur he is considered to have had an exceptional golfing career. Tiger Woods was the youngest ever to win the US Amateur and the only person to ever win it 3 years in a row, as well as, the 3 previous US Junior Amateurs. Tiger Woods is the owner of the most impressive record in golf history. He held USGA National Championships for 6 consecutive years from 1991 to 1996.
