Yes Made In America means a lot to us older drivers that have any experience driving them. That is gained through the years and allows one to learn how they are manufactured as well. First of all one must point out that cars made here are more expensive because of the high pay checks the people who put them together are paid. Unions have driven the prices up so high they can't really compete with the cars made in Japan.

The Japanese automobiles are put together by labor that do not earn what was long ago considered minimum wage in America. Labor is forced to work long hours and are never paid over-time. Naturally this is done so labor will never gain enough political power to over throw the wealthy Japanese automobile company owners.

When one buys a car made in America they can be reassured that their purchase is worth it because they are well made and last longer. This is true no matter how much money the car manufacturer is trying to save because in America there are several regulatory laws that require the cars to be of high safety. Factories can not legally substitute plastic for steel without facing a large penalty.

Over seas there are no safety regulations. That means cars made there can be put together with plastic and rubber bands without having any legal problems. It should also be pointed out that governments like China are favoring cheap productions in order to stay in power. They do not allow the same kind of business competition that has driven auto manufacturers in America for some years.

Unfortunately the American auto companies have stopped using the 'it lasts forever' line in their advertisements. That method harmed them because customers just didn't have to trade their old car in and buy a new one. Most of the customers would just hang on to their car untill they could no longer keep it running. That longevity really cuts into the company profits. In order to compete with all these imports a new technique has been started. Cars made in America are now advertised as trying something new. Potential customers are not being reminded how that car will last forever just like the models before it.

Imported cars are not being made to last very long. If ones like that were made the Japanese auto companies wouldn't sell as many as they do now. The loss in profit would make keeping cheap labor almost impossible. This is why used imported cars are not as valuable as the ones made in America. Customers who fall for the cheap price lose money for that mistake in just about every way possible. When one desires to try out a new made in America model their used car trade in helps them pay for it.

This also holds true for all them car owners who never want to get rid of their favorite piece of dependable joy. They are allowed to buy parts for them long after the model has stopped being made. In this case one is allowed to escape financing their transportation every few years. They no longer have to rely on some luck as they pick out some new car to buy. They get to rely on safety to keep from putting any dents into the body. The tougher car can even be driven with more skill as well.
