Dressing up your spunky, energetic dog for Halloween is the best part of the year! Sometimes it isn't just the fun you have to think about. Picking an outfit for your pet can also be a very stressful task.Wowing your crowd is what takes away the stress in the end though. In this article I will tell you some tips and costume ideas.
Size of the dog
Remember, you don't want anything to irritate or stress the dog out. Here are some things you should make sure to check.
Boots/shoes: They should have lots of cushion. Make sure they fit your dog just enough so they wont come off. If they are too tight, your dog will get very stressed.
Sweater/shirts: If you want to make your own shirt or buy one for your dog, remember the amount of fur your dog has. Halloween isn't always the warmest time of the year. Make sure It fits your pup just right and it doesn't make the dog itchy.
Accessories: If you want to get accessories for your dog's Halloween costume, make sure they fit snugly and they don't pinch or irritate the dog
Face mask/face accessories: I wouldn't suggest you to get a mask for your dog. He needs to breath! If your puppy has to wear a tiara, do not stick it on by clipping it to their fur. This can pull at their fur and make the puppy stressed.
Dying the dog's fur: I wouldn't recommend this. This is a very stressful task and really stresses the dog out. Anyways, who would really want a green or blue dog?
Costumes: they're are many costumes you can pick from. Some of the costumes are ridiculous and cute and some are just plain ridiculous. Always make sure your dog isn't too hot in his/her costume. This also irritates the dog.
Movie stars: You could dress your dog up as a famous movie star or a tv show character. These are always big hits on Halloween night.
Animals: Dressing your dog up as a different kind of animal is always a cute idea. Even dressing your dog up as another dog is funny.
Warrior: Your pup is a warrior with his axe in his side belt. How cute! A great pick for small dogs.
Ninja: Being a ninja dog for Halloween is really sweet. Just remember to never cover up the dog's face with the ninja costume. This stresses the dog out.
Mythical creatures: If your dog was a unicorn or a dragon, they would certainly light up the night! Just remember to keep your dog happy. If you have to put a unicorn on his head, get a hooded unicorn coat with a horn on the top.
Star wars/ Lord of the rings: These two movies are very popular and great for dressing up your pup. Even thought these costumes are recently used, they are classics!
Witch and traditional costumes: Witches and ghosts are some of the most popular costumes. Even though they are, they are always fun to see anyways. If your dog is going to be a ghost, don't ever cover up his/her face. Devil dog is a cute and easy idea.
Now your Halloween won't be as stressful. Instead, it will be much more fun! I hope you and your spunky little friend have the best Halloween ever. Thank you for reading.
