DEDICATION, LOVE, PASSION
What are the requirements for being a writer? Well, for me personally, the main requirements one needs, and I would class these three as the same, are: Dedication, love, and passion. With dedication, writing must fill your minds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is never a moment that passes when I am not thinking about writing a short story, a piece of poetry, or an article on a particular subject. Writing must fill your every waking moment - in fact that is what it means to be a writer. To be a writer you must be consumed totally by a cast iron will. You must love your craft, love it like you have never loved before. And a passion for writing must always fill your heart.
It is no good writing half-heartedly for then this will show within the work you produce. This half-hearted writing will be transferred over to the reader of your piece, who then will not be bothered to finish what you have written, simply because you could not be bothered to write it properly. Your half-hearted interest will be on show for all to see, and you will not be taken seriously as a writer.
HAVE PASSION. HAVE LOVE
One must have the passion to write running through their veins, passion dedication and love. Some people might say what about skill? No, I have not forgotten that too, but it has to be said the most famous writers began to write after leaving school with no qualifications at all. They were written off {pardon the pun} so-to-speak, by society who thought that they would come to nothing. But what such people had in common with each other was a burning desire to write. They had the required dedication, passion and love to overcome their lack of education. They taught themselves the skill of writing, and spelling. Where to place full stops, commas, semi-colons, etc etc. In fact they learned the grammar as they went along.
DEDICATION
Dedication, love, passion, these are the three words that I will use throughout this article to drum it into anyone who wants to write seriously. Think hard about your decision because it will mean giving up every spare moment to writing. Placing your ideas down for articles, or stories {both short and long}. Thinking about what the next subject you want to write about could be. Even carrying around with you a notepad and pen in case, an idea for a piece suddenly hits you. This has happened so many times to myself in the past, that I now carry
