What are your top five funniest shows of all time and why?

As a fairly older guy amongst the herd of fine writers that come here, I have come across no shortage of topics upon which to elaborate upon. I mostly write about political and social issues but every now and again you just have to take a break and have a little fun. And so I found the topic of my top five funniest sitcoms and could not resist the chance to share my thoughts on them. Most of my TV consumption consist of NFL football but I like you enjoy and require a good laugh from time to time. So I would like to humbly submit my list of five funniest shows. So let's begin with the fun!

1. SEINFELD - I remember upon first seeing this show I was laughing out loud immediately! Larry David the creator of this show has probably created the best of the all time comedies in contemporary culture. Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Elaine Bennis, and the all time colorful character Cosmo Kramer have to be one of the best cast ensembles ever created! Seinfeld introduced us to the concept of regifting which has always existed but then they gave it a name. And the soup nazi has to be one of the funniest characters that a half hour sitcom was ever created around. Newman ranks as one of the funniest foils any central character has had to match wits with at anytime. And both the Seinfeld and Costanza parents would drive any normal human being absolutely neurotic! Nothing but sheer genius in the making of this program. Although I must admit the last episode came up a little short. But how can one ever finalize greatness? The biggest problem was they had to outdo themselves. But it still remains in syndication today and is still heavily viewed. I have seen all the episodes repeatedly and still love that show!

2 THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW - Another sure fire winner! The Mary Tyler Moore show succeeded on a couple of different levels for me personally. First and foremost the show was just plain hilarious! And also as you invited Mary , Lou Grant, Murray, and the ultimate dimbulb anchorman Ted Baxter into your living room every week not only were you laughing at them you also came to care about them as well.  They also had some excellent co-stars including Valarie Harper as Rhoda who eventually had a successful show of her own in the 70s and Phyllis who was played by Cloris Leachman. Phyllis also had a moderately successful show in the 70s as well. And they also had a younger John Amos whom is more likely to be remembered as the Father in "Good Times", but also played
