The winter here in Columbus Ohio can sometimes put frost on your nose, but you don't have to suffer form cabin fever every winter. There are many things to do in this great city for you and your children.
*COLUMBUS ZOO*
Every winter the greatest zoo in all the land has a winter fest, called Wild-lights. They have the best winter display of Christmas lights. They have hot chocolate, and activities that include baking cookies with Mrs. Claus and Photos with the big man himself. So bundle up the children and take a nightly stroll through this winter wonderland. (If you happen to be a member of the Zoo, they will have a preview night for members only. You can see the lights before any one else).
*COSI*
Located downtown Columbus, Cosi is a full day of excitement. It is a hands-on experience that focuses on science, technology and history. Your child can walk through each exhibit and learn something different every time. They also have what is called an Extreme Screen that will showcase educational movies either 3D or exploring an unknown area of the world.
*ANTHONY THOMAS CANDY COMPANY*
This candy factory is located on the west side of Columbus. You can take a free tour of the factory viewing how chocolate is being prepared and molded. The tour lasts 60 minutes and you will receive free samples at the end of the tour.
*COLUMBUS CHILDREN'S THEATRE*
Children will love this cultured activity. The theatre is also located downtown. You and your children might enjoy the Christmas pageant that they put on every season.
*THE CHILLER*
The chiller has 5 locations in and around the Columbus area. This is an ice skating rink that not only has classes for children of all ages, but it has Friday night melt down. They will enjoy spending time with their friends every Friday night. This is a cheap activity at only four dollars to skate and two dollars for ice skate rentals. You can even have a Birthday party at any one of the locations.
*THE COLUMBUS MUSEUM OF ART*
You and your children can take a walk throughout the museum of American and European art. The center also has a dress up area for children to dress up like a 17th century Dutch painting. If you happen to arrive on a weekday morning, your children can learn how works of art are creative and preserved.
