The best young players in Football Manager 2010

When playing Football Manager it can be great fun to unearth great young players and watch as they become key members of your squad. Promising young players don’t always develop in the way that you would hope, great success can certainly be had with cracking young talent however, and I shall here discuss some supremely talented young players that I personally consider to be some of the very best.

In terms of young goalkeeping talent, Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Asenjo I feel is the very best player you can invest in. Asenjo only signed for Atletico Madrid in July 2009 and signing him straight away may prove to be a rather difficult task, if you do find that you’re able to sign the player though then definitely take the opportunity to do so. Atlanta’s Andrea Consigli is another great young goalkeeper that is well worth taking a look at, and is another top quality goalkeeper that should serve you well if you sign him.

You can give your defensive line a brilliant Brazilian touch with the signings of central defenders David Luiz (Benfica) and Breno (Bayern Munich). Both of these players are central defenders, and these are two players that you really can rely on for top notch performances; both Breno and David Luiz are players that would be well suited to playing Champions League football, and if you’re managing a team with ambitions of winning the title then you could definitely do a lot worse than signing these two. Another Brazilian name to add to your team is that of Marcelo; the absolute pick of the bunch in my opinion. Marcelo is a truly phenomenal player that will provide a great number of assists when coming forward, and always looks solid when performing his defensive duties also. He’s a great young left sided player with an absolute abundance of ability, and when looking to replace your left back I would definitely make Real Madrid’s Marcelo your number one target. The right back is the defensive position I have the least confidence in recommending, there are a few players to look at in this position though, and Rafael (Manchester United) and Micah Richards (Manchester City) are two players that I’d recommend tracking the progress of.

In FM2010 there’s a great variety of superb young midfield stars, and one of the very best is Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas. An absolute superstar in real life, Fabregas is a brilliant player within Football Manager 2010 also, and if you’ve got the budget to sign
