Poetry: If you love me

by Shane Gray

Created on: December 13, 2009   Last Updated: January 28, 2010

I crave your companionship
the way drowning men desire dry land

I shake and twitch like a  junkie
With an empty needle in his hand
Thinking of the fix I got from your lips

Remembering the last time my fingers
Questing like conquistadors
Traversed the terrain of your inner thigh

The wideness of your eyes
As they reached their destination

You pulled me close, we intertwined

Huddled up together
Like travelers trapped in a pass by winter snow
Hungry for heat

Your need consumed me like a Dahmer victim

A short soft moan, a long loud shout

You, bucking like a brahma bull
Back bent, hips high, almost epileptic
I held on for more than eight seconds
Earning not even a belt buckle
No token of your amorous affections

You cleaned up the scene of the sex crime
Blank slate, hollow heart, empty life

Not so much as soiled sheets to show
That here we once fought off winter snow
That here we were hungry for heat
Now here I sit alone, addicted to you

Shaking like a junkie with an empty needle and a blown vein

I crave your companionship
The way drowning men desire dry land

Desperately
