Ever since Tiger Woods had the now infamous car crash, I’ve like many others have been checking the news hoping that he might somehow explain it.  When he started hiding out and cancelling interviews with the police, I’ve thought to myself this cannot be good.  It would have been better for him from the outset, not to promise any interviews at all with the authorities. 

The best thing he could have done though was to come out and make a statement to the cameras.  This would have at least assured Tiger's public that he was all right and that the incident was nothing more than an accident.  Even if it was a substance-induced accident, he had a chance to keep the kittens in the bag.   Since his fans have proven themselves to be very devoted, a statement the first or even the second week would have earned him some measure of sympathy. 

That may be wishing thinking though.  Observers and fans of Tiger have since splintered into many camps.  There are those who say, just leave the guy alone.  It is his and his family’s problems.  On the other end of the opinion spectrum, there are those who feel personally betrayed.  They react as if they have been personally wronged and take to righteous indignation.   The whole thing though is for Tiger to fix. 

His marriage

Tiger Woods is accountable to his wife Elin and his own children.  Elin is also the advocate for the children in their tender age.  It is right and proper that Tiger should be explaining things to his wife.  It is also right and proper that he should be trying single mindedly to patch up his marriage.  Tiger owes Elin a great deal but even more so now, since she has not walked out.  Many have already suggested that she has every right to walk, based on the many breaches of their vows to each other.  

Nuclear and Extended Family

In addition to his children, Tiger owes a lot to his extended family.  Family members by proximity and by blood are in an emotional and psychological turmoil.  Yet as that may be, Tiger owes his children the security of having a father who looks out for them.  They are in a tempest that they cannot being to understand.  This kind of tempest is hard enough for responsible adults to deal with, let alone the children.  These two children will in due time be confronted with the Internet achieves regarding the conduct of their father
